TS EAMCET vs AP EAMCET: Separate Exams, Separate Counselling
Since Telangana split from Andhra Pradesh, the two states have run entirely independent versions of the EAMCET exam. TS EAMCET is Telangana's own entrance exam, conducted by its own authority, feeding into its own separate counselling process for engineering, agriculture, and pharmacy admissions across the state. It shares a broadly similar structure and question pattern with AP EAMCET, since both trace back to the same original combined exam, but a rank secured in TS EAMCET has no bearing whatsoever on admissions in Andhra Pradesh, and the reverse is equally true. Students eligible for both states, or considering colleges across both regions, generally need to appear for both exams separately to keep every option open.
How the 75-25 Weightage Works
Like its Andhra Pradesh counterpart, TS EAMCET doesn't rank students purely on their entrance exam paper. Your final normalized composite score combines your entrance exam marks, weighted at 75%, with your Intermediate (12th standard) percentage, weighted at the remaining 25%. Both figures are converted onto comparable percentage scales first, then combined using these weights to produce your composite score, which is what your final Telangana rank is actually based on.
This means your Intermediate performance carries real, direct weight in your final outcome, unlike JEE Main where board marks have no mathematical effect on your rank at all. A student focused entirely on entrance exam preparation while neglecting their Intermediate boards is working against a quarter of their own final score, which is a meaningful enough share to genuinely shift outcomes at the margins.
Top Telangana Engineering Colleges by EAMCET Cutoff
JNTU Hyderabad has historically been the most sought-after destination among Telangana's engineering colleges, with its top branches, especially Computer Science, typically requiring a rank within the low thousands. Osmania University's engineering college and CBIT Hyderabad have generally followed close behind, remaining accessible for strong branches at somewhat higher rank numbers. Beyond these top institutions, a broad range of other decent government and private engineering colleges across Telangana has typically stayed open at ranks extending into the tens of thousands, narrowing in branch choice as rank numbers climb.
Category-wise TS EAMCET Rank Estimates
Telangana reserves seats across OC, BC, SC, ST, and EWS categories, each drawing from its own dedicated candidate pool. Because of this, your rank within your specific category is typically quite different from your overall composite rank, since you're being measured against a narrower group of candidates competing for that category's reserved seats. This predictor's category-wise table lets you see your estimated rank across all five categories at once.
